The Scarboro Community Alumni Association 2018 Reunion is Saturday.
The activities include a parade at 9 a.m., a Fun Day from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., a Meet and Greet from 6-10 p.m., and a Banquet from 6-10 p.m. See the flyer below for more information.

The Scarboro Community Alumni Association will have a weekend of festivities this month as part of Oak Ridge’s 75th anniversary celebration.
It’s a reunion scheduled from July 27-July 30.
The 2018 theme, “Connecting the Dots,” commemorates the generations that made lifestyle choices that affect the growth and development of a vibrant Scarboro and Oak Ridge community, a press release said.
“Some additional 200 persons will return back to Oak Ridge to rekindle old memories of growing up in the Scarboro community,” the release said.
Festivities will begin with the Meet and Greet held Friday, July 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Scarboro Community Center at 148 Carver Avenue. There, people may receive their registration information, talk with old friends, and enjoy music and appetizers, the press release said. [Read more…]
The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society will host a fall Meet and Greet followed by a fall wildflower walk on the UT Arboretum grounds on Saturday, September 17, from 9-11 a.m.
The public is invited for a Meet and Greet at the UT Arboretum Visitor’s Center at 901 South Illinois Avenue in Oak Ridge. Coffee and donuts will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Kris Light, an expert naturalist, educator, and photographer will lead this fun, educational, and easy walk, a press release said. Participants may want to bring a camera to take pictures of the many wildflowers on the Arboretum grounds. [Read more…]

The Scarboro Community Alumni Association will hold a weekend of festivities July 29-30 that will include a parade, Fun Day, and Scholarship Banquet.
A Meet and Greet will be held Friday, July 29, starting at 6 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 1650 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 30, organizations, churches, schools, political officials, and entertainers will participate in a parade starting from Spurgeon Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, going left on Benedict Avenue, left on Dillard Avenue, right on Hampton Road (passing the old Scarboro School Site), right on Wilberforce, and ending at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a press release said.
The Fun Day event will follow with an array of food and non-food vendors, music, and activities for youth and adults at the Scarboro Community Center, which is at 148 Carver Avenue, from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. [Read more…]
The Oak Ridge Education Association is having a “Meet the Candidates, Meet the Educators” event at the high school this afternoon.
It’s scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, October 22) at the Oak Ridge High School amphitheater.
“Because of the plethora of candidate forums in recent weeks (and the number of candidates), our event will not be so much a traditional candidate forum as much as a ‘conversation’ about public education,” a press release said. “Each candidate will have the opportunity to speak for three-five minutes on their views on educational issues pertinent to the office that he/she is seeking. Aditya “Doc” Savara, a candidate for Oak Ridge City Council, has a meet-and-greet this evening.
“With so many people entering the race for Oak Ridge City Council, it’s helpful to have a chance to get your questions and issues heard,” Savara said.
The meet-and-greet is on East Drive between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. today (Sunday, October 19).

Oak Ridge resident and community volunteer Dottie Thompson will host a “meet and greet” tonight for Paige (White) Marshall, a candidate for the Oak Ridge Board of Education.
The meet and greet is from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, at Thompson’s home at 25 Windhaven Lane in Oak Ridge.
“I’m so appreciative of Dottie for hosting this event,” Marshall said. “I’ve known her family for 30 years, and her support and endorsement mean the world to me. This type of gathering provides a great opportunity to meet folks face to face and better hear and understand the viewpoints of our citizens.â€

Laurie Paine
There will be a meet-and-greet for Laurie Paine, a candidate for Oak Ridge Board of Education, at Cedar Hill Park at 6 p.m. Monday, October 6.
“Bring the kids for some fun!” a press release said. “With all the recent events happening in Oak Ridge, this is also a safety awareness event.”
Light finger foods will be offered along with free face painting for the children, the release said.
It said Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank will be attending as a guest.
Beth Harwell
Beth Harwell, speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives, will be in Clinton for a meet-and-greet at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce on Friday afternoon.
The “Meet and Greet†is scheduled from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Chamber office at 245 North Main Street, Suite 200, in Clinton. The public is invited.
A Nashville Republican, Harwell also has other stops in Anderson County, starting in Oak Ridge on Friday morning. Joining her on the tour will be Tennessee Rep. John Ragan, an Oak Ridge Republican, the speaker’s office said in a press release.

Jerry Creasey
Supporters and family of Jerry Creasey, a candidate for re-election to the Anderson County Commission in District 7, have a meet-and-greet on Saturday in Oak Ridge. It’s scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at 130 Ridgeway Center.
Ridgeway Center is located across the street from the Methodist Medical Center, behind the Security Square Shopping Center. There will be road markers to lead the way, a press release said.

Friends of Ryan Spitzer, a candidate for General Sessions Judge Division 1, will host a “meet and greet†and fundraising reception for Spitzer from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, at Hensley Happenings Cafe and Grill in Norris.
The event is hosted by George and Kay Davis, Catherine Denenberg, Susan Fowler, Warren and Judy Gooch, C.A. and Judy Ridge, and Jim Ed and Sharon Wallace.
