Anderson Chamber hosts seminar on tax law changes

A Feb. 6 seminar at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will focus on the 2012 American Relief Act and tax law changes.

The seminar will be presented by J.D. Schlandt, a certified public accountant.

The seminar is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Chamber office. You can join the “Chamber Chatroom lunch bunch” from 11:30 a.m. to  noon in an opportunity to network and establish new relationships, a press release said.

New Year’s resolution seminar on health, wellness at Anderson Chamber

A Jan. 16 seminar at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will feature a fitness director who will discuss ways to keep health and wellness resolutions in the new year.

“Every year, millions of Americans make the New Year’s resolutions: increase physical activity, lose weight, eat better, etc.,” a press release said. “Unfortunately, after a few months of the new year, many of those Americans find themselves back into the old habits, and the New Year’s resolutions are done.”

During the seminar, Take Charge Fitness Director Anna Dark will “map out” how people can keep their resolutions and meet their wellness goals, the release said.

Clinton Christmas Parade tonight

The Clinton Christmas Parade starts at 6 p.m. today on Christin Drive near the Anderson County Fairgrounds.

It proceeds down Eagle Bend Road, which is south of Charles G. Seivers Boulevard and runs roughly parallel to it. The parade ends at the Clinton Community Center.

Veterans Day Parade registration due Friday

Entries for Anderson County’s sixth annual Veterans Day Parade are due by Friday.

The parade will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in downtown Clinton. There will be a celebration of veterans in the Ritz Theater afterward.

The parade is organized by Anderson County Veteran Services Director Leon Jaquet, Clinton American Legion Post #172, Sons of the Revolution-Anderson County Chapter, and Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.

Entries are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. There is no entry fee, but donations will be accepted and used for advertising and renting the Ritz Theater.

There is a two-vehicle limit for motorized parade entries, although that limit doesn’t apply to military or emergency vehicles.
