Donald Holbrook Jr., age 49, of Andersonville, passed away on Jan. 7 at his home.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. Donald enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the Kentucky National Guard for 12 years. [Read more…]

Leon C. Lough

Leon C. Lough, age 83, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Jan. 7, at the Life Care Center of Morgan County.

Mr. Lough was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Oliver Springs. Following his military discharge, he lived in Merrillville, Ind., for 30 years, moving back to Oliver Springs in 1985.

Leon was a retired iron worker and boilermaker. He retired from J&L Steel Inc. in Indiana following 30 years of employment. He was a member of Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Lough served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For his significant accomplishments and contributions to the U.S. Army, he received several medals, decorations, citations, and ribbons.

Betty L. Justice, age 74, a resident of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord, Jan. 6, at Tennova Residential Hospice in Halls.

Mrs. Justice was born Oct. 11, 1938 in Oliver Springs. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Betty was a faithful Christian and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir. In addition to spoiling her grandchildren, her hobbies included quilting, doll making, computer games, and traveling.

Jo Anne Perrell Giles, age 80, passed away peacefully at NHC Health Care Center in Oak Ridge on Jan. 3. She is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, along with family and friends who have gone before her.

She was born Sept. 9, 1932, to Joseph and Isabell Haynes Perrell. Mrs. Giles has been a resident of Oak Ridge for 45 years and worked as a volunteer for many years as a Pink Lady. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Oak Ridge.

Joseph Randall Dunbar, most beloved son of Kenneth J. and Kathy (Sweitzer) Dunbar, went with peace and grace in the arms of Jesus on Jan. 2.

Joseph is survived by his most loving sister and best friend, Sarah (Michael) Harper of Richmond, Va. Mike was always more like a brother to Joseph. He is also survived by his devoted niece, Ashley Harper of Richmond, Va., whom he cherished dearly; five aunts he loved dearly and one in particular in Oak Ridge who loved to spend her spare time with Joseph; four uncles; and first, second, and third cousins too numerous to mention.

Our family is one of the closest there could ever hope to be.

Evelyn White Jenkins, age 94, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, at NHC Health Care Center in Oak Ridge.

She was born June 10, 1918, in Wilson County, daughter of Joel Harris White and Myrtle Dillard White.

Mrs. Jenkins and her late husband, Conie F. Jenkins Sr., were longtime residents of Oak Ridge. They had been active members of Robertsville Baptist Church, and Mrs. Jenkins taught Sunday School classes for many years. After moving to Lebanon, she moved her church membership to Calvary Baptist Church. [Read more…]

Lois Harner, 80, took her journey with the angels on Dec. 27, at her home in Andersonville, surrounded by her family.

She fought her battle with cancer with gracefulness and dignity, in which she lived her entire life. A private service is planned for immediate family only.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio. She was in the finance business before she moved to Tennessee, and she co-owned and operated Sequoyah Marina in Andersonville for almost two decades. [Read more…]

John Michael Reagan, 60, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, in Oak Ridge, after a short illness.

He was born in Bethlehem, Pa., on May 27, 1952, the son of John Leo Reagan, deceased, and Justine Fox Reagan.

John graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1970. He played the alto saxophone in the high school band. He also played in several dance bands in the area. [Read more…]

Michael Powers, age 54, of Maynardville, formerly of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Powers, and brother, Darrell Powers.
