A 13-year-old Knoxville boy was flown by air ambulance Sunday to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a boat trailer reportedly ran over his right leg at Clark Center Park in Oak Ridge.
The boy had been standing on the right side of a trailer being towed by a pickup truck driven by Brian S. Graham of Knoxville, but the boy jumped off and fell before the boat trailer tires ran over his right leg, an Oak Ridge Police Department accident report said.
More than twice as many Republicans as Democrats cast ballots during early voting in Anderson County this year, election officials said Monday.
Early voting ended Saturday, and as of Monday afternoon, the Anderson County Election Commission had counted a total of 6,599 votes.
Republicans cast 4,371 of those votes and Democrats 1,904, said Stephanie Gamble, Anderson County Election Commission deputy administrator.

Three anti-nuclear weapons activists facing federal trespassing charges after sneaking into a high-security area at the Y-12 National Security Complex on Saturday have waived a detention hearing, meaning they will remain jailed for now, a court representative said Monday.
The three Plowshares activists are Michael R. Walli, 63, of Washington, D.C.; Megan Rice, 82, of New York; and Greg Boertje-Obed, 57, of Duluth, Minn. They have been jailed at the Blount County Corrections Facility.
The federal trespassing charges reportedly carry potential sentences of up to one year in prison and one year of supervised release as well as a maximum $100,000 fine. Supporters and officials have said other charges are possible.
For the second time in two weeks, an Oak Ridge resident has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault after an alleged stabbing.
The most recent incident occurred Friday when Treasure Sheitel Threat, 25, of Lynwood Lane, allegedly stabbed Kingston resident Stanley Wallace in the stomach in his car at the intersection of Robin Lane and Raleigh Road after an argument in Grove Center, court records said.
She is accused of approaching Wallace’s car and punching him in the head before she allegedly leaned in “and made several more punching motions toward the victim’s stomach,” arrest warrants said.

A Tennessee company has licensed award-winning software from Oak Ridge National Laboratory that will help industries install wireless networks more cost-effectively in challenging environments such as mines, offshore drilling platforms, and factories, a press release said.
The company is called Networcsim, and it was founded by ORNL researchers Phani Teja Kuruganti and James Nutaro.
The two signed an agreement Friday to license the Radio Channel Simulator software, which won an R&D 100 Award this month.

UCOR, the federal cleanup contractor in Oak Ridge, hosted a special performance of “Damn Yankees” at the Oak Ridge Playhouse earlier this month in celebration of the company’s first year of work at the East Tennessee Technology Park.
The performance was for more than 220 staff members, friends, and colleagues.
Also attending the special showing was the United Way of Anderson County Pillar Society, a group of more than 120 leadership donors who have contributed $1,000 or more each year to the United Way, a UWAC press release said.
Harry “Hap” McSween, a professor of planetary geoscience at the University of Tennessee, will discuss discoveries made by the Dawn spacecraft orbiting Vesta, the second most massive asteroid, during a Wednesday lecture in Oak Ridge.
McSween is a geologist and distinguished professor who has served as head of UT’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences and as former interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Three Plowshares protesters who oppose nuclear weapons allegedly sneaked through four fences at the Y-12 National Security Complex before dawn Saturday and spray-painted messages and splashed human blood on the walls of a uranium storage building before they were detained by security guards, an activist said.
The three were identified by supporters as Michael R. Walli, 63, of Washington, D.C.; Megan Rice, 82, of New York; and Greg Boertje-Obed, 57, of Duluth, Minn.
They are now in the Blount County Corrections Facility, said Ellen Barfield, of Baltimore, Md., who said she is a longtime anti-war and anti-nuclear weapons activist and friend of the three detainees.
Federal spokesman Steven Wyatt wasn’t able to confirm the identity of those arrested, but he said they entered a high-security area on the west end of Y-12—the Protected Area—at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, spray-painted a building there, and splashed a substance that appeared to be like blood on a wall.
It could be the first security breach of that area, Wyatt said.
“I don’t ever recall this happening before at Y-12,” he said.
Three people were detained at the Y-12 National Security complex early this morning after they trespassed and defaced a building, possibly as a protest, a spokesman said.
The alleged incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, federal spokesman Steven Wyatt said in a statement.
The three people, who have not been identified, will be transported to an off-site facility for arrest and processing under federal trespassing charges, Wyatt said, although he wasn’t sure where they would be taken.
Oak Ridge Associated Universities has renewed a five-year agreement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to continue providing technical assistance for radiological surveys and assessments.
The $5.4 million agreement will last through 2017, an ORAU press release said.
Under the agreement, ORAU will perform laboratory analyses, document reviews, inspections, and surveys related to the decommissioning of previously contaminated reactor and materials sites.
Tre Hargett
A record number of Tennessee voters cast ballots early this year, but the number of early votes appeared to be down in Anderson County and possibly Roane County.
As of Wednesday, 223,281 Tennesseans had either voted early or mailed in absentee ballots for the Aug. 2 election, Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett announced Thursday.
That’s up from 206,174 during the entire early voting period in August 2008, Hargett said. There were 11,267 people who mailed in absentee ballots in that election.
Terry Frank
Warren Gooch
Warren Gooch, the Democratic candidate for Anderson County mayor, raised more than four times as much in campaign contributions as his Republican opponent, Terry Frank, in the three-month reporting period that ended June 30.
Gooch, an Oak Ridge attorney, reported total contributions of $64,680, while Frank, a Clinton business owner, reported $15,193.
If a $6,479 loan from Frank to her campaign is included, Frank’s total receipts were $21,672, about one-third of Gooch’s.
Gooch also spent about four times as much as Frank—or $60,147 in total disbursements, compared to $14,070 for Frank, the campaign finance reports said.
In his 77-page report, Gooch reported he received 233 donations of more than $100 each. Those donations are called itemized contributions.
In her 17-page report, Frank reported 31 itemized contributions.
