The 8th annual Clinch River Spring Antique Fair is this weekend in Clinton. The fair starts on Friday with a “kick-off party” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a performance by Wendy Crowe and High Kotton Band.
The festival continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an outdoor antique show that features more than 100 vendors from many states. On Sunday, the antique shops will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This year’s free Secret City Sounds Concert Series starts Friday night, and it features Jenna and the Accidentals.
Now in its fourth season, the concert series is held at the Pavilion in A.K. Bissell Park.
The City of Oak Ridge begins its annual brush pickup program on Monday. Brush includes tree limbs, bagged yard clippings and leaves. This schedule is a general guide, but it can vary due to weather conditions or the amount of brush to pick up.
High Places Church at the Grove Theater is having an open mic night at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28.
Performances can include poetry readings, humor, and acoustic music, such as guitar and harmonica. This event is usually around the last Saturday of the month.

B&W Y-12 recently donated the second $100,000 of a $400,000 commitment to support the B&W Y-12 Chemistry Laboratory. The laboratory, which has been named after B&W Y-12, is located at the L&N STEM Academy in Knoxville.
This donation is meant to help address the growing demand for technical skills and is to be used to set up the school’s lab.
The 10th annual Community Share Day, called “Scarboro Pride”, will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. This event will be held at the Scarboro Community Center. There will be fellowship, games, hands-on activities and free food.
The Scarboro Community Center is located at 148 Carver Avenue in Oak Ridge.

The Union County Chamber Tourism Council is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Tennessee state parks at 2 p.m. today. The event will be held at the former Tea Room at Big Ridge State Park and officials will be unveiling the map of the Norris Lake area from Tennessee Valley Authority.
A digitalized copy of the 1935 TVA Norris Reservoir Land Map has been released and includes the plats and names of the families who were displaced by the creation of the lake when Norris Dam was built in the 1930s. This map includes the entire Norris Lake area, and includes the counties of Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, and Union.
Oak Ridge Police Department is accepting old and unused prescription drugs on Saturday, April 28. The medications can be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 200 S. Tulane Ave.
This event is meant to help prevent pill abuse and theft and is being done in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration. This service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Congressman Chuck Fleischmann recently voted for the Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012.
The Sportsmen’s Heritage Act, which is supported by the National Rifle Association and more than 35 conservation groups, removes restrictions on hunting and fishing on public lands. This act also prevents the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from barring the use of certain types of traditional ammunition.
“As a member of the NRA, I fully believe that Americans should be able to hunt and fish recreationally free from the overreach of government bureaucrats,” said Fleischmann, whose district includes Oak Ridge. “From the founding of our nation to the settling of the West, the right of citizens to hunt and fish on wild land has been a hallmark of our American identity.”
Construction work on the Woodland Town Center is scheduled to begin soon, and a short section of Quincy Avenue between South Purdue and South Illinois Avenue is scheduled to be closed on Friday, April 27.
The street closure could be delayed for bad weather. That section of Quincy Avenue will be closed for approximately four to five months while a new street is constructed as part of the Woodland Town Center, which is expected to include an Aubrey’s restaurant and a larger Panera Bread.
Motorists are requested to avoid this area and use alternate routes of travel.

The Tennessee Small Business Development Center will be offering a free workshop on April 26 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce. This workshop will be for small business owners and entrepreneurs who want a better understanding of how to start a new business.
The seminar will discuss different forms of business organization, tax requirements, business licenses, business planning and financing options. There will be additional discussion about U.S. Small Business Administration loan qualification and opportunities.

Coal Creek OHV is having a spring jamboree that started at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 19, and runs through Sunday, April 22. Numerous activities are scheduled, such as guided rides, a rock crawl and an ATV rodeo. A one-time $10 fee covers participation in all events except the Poker Run.
The Coal Creek Off-Highway Vehicle Area is 72,000 acres of off-road trails and is located in Oliver Springs. The trails are open to everyone and just about any type of vehicles, such as ATVs, motorcycles, mountain bikes and jeeps.
