Oliver Springs school administrator arrested for DUI, placed on leave

An Oliver Springs High School administrator was arrested last week outside the roller skating rink on East Tri-County Boulevard after the Oliver Springs Police Department was called and told that a parent had arrived to pick up their child and appeared to be intoxicated.

Donna Renee Moore, 46, of Harriman, was arrested late Friday night, and the responding officer noted that she was unsteady on her feet; had red, glassy eyes; and smelled of alcohol. He also reported finding two, partially empty airplane-sized vodka bottles in her purse. [Read more...]

Community Band concert Sunday features composers who aren’t well-known

The band director at Oliver Springs High School will be the featured soloist in a Sunday afternoon concert in Oak Ridge.

It’s the Oak Ridge Community Band’s “One Note Wonders” concert, and it features the music of composers who aren’t well-known, a press release said. The concert is at the Grove Theater Performing Arts Center, and it starts at 3:30 p.m.

OLIVER SPRINGS — Like most young men, Brady Walls had big dreams.

Walls, 17, wanted to become a famous football player, family members and friends said during a candlelight vigil in Oliver Springs on Tuesday.

“He wanted to go to the NFL and buy his daddy a Jeep,” said friend and neighbor John Simms, a junior at Oliver Springs High School.
