Ferdinand “Fred” Mignogna, age 79, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Mr. Mignogna was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Lawrence, N.Y. He continued living in New York until his move to Oliver Springs in 1993.
Fred was a retired auto mechanic and he attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed watching baseball, football, and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Frances Drahos Mignogna; by his wife, Eileen Marie Mignogna; and by a sister, Deloris Wagner.
Mr. Mignogna is survived by his sons, Charles Mignogna and wife Lisa of Holtsville, N.Y., and Michael and Brian Mignogna of Oliver Springs; by daughters, Mary Hinkle and husband Ronnie, and Brittney Mignogna of Oliver Springs; and by six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Robert Mignogna of Center Moririches, N.Y.; by sisters, Barbara Hurst of Ashville, N.C., and Deborah Sylvia of Harriman; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. both Sunday, Oct. 20, and Monday, Oct. 21, at Sharp Funeral Home. A liturgy will be observed at 7 pm, on Monday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Father Dustin Collins officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
