Oak Ridge City Schools has announced that the application period for renewing or applying for tuition and cross boundary applications is April 8 thru April 26. The approved applications are good for one year.

If your child remains in good standing during that time period, you will need to complete a cross boundary application for the upcoming school year and return it to your child’s school.

Cross boundary applications may be obtained at the schools, on the Oak Ridge School’s website, or from the Pupil Services Department. Tuition applications may be obtained from the website or from Pupil Services in the School Administration Building.

If you are renewing a tuition application, the application will need to be sent to the Pupil Services Department. Tuition rates for the upcoming school year will be available after School Board approval in August. Once the new rates are approved, you will be sent a tuition contract containing the new rates and deadline for payment.

All students applying for cross boundary and tuition must meet the following criteria for approval:

  1. The student must be in good standing in attendance—no excessive absences, tardies, or early dismissals.
  2. The student must be in good standing in academics—no failing grades.
  3. The student must be in good standing in behavior—no noted discipline referrals, suspensions. or expulsions.
  4. Parents must be supportive of their child’s educational environment by contributing positively with the educational team at the school.

Applications received after the deadline may be subject to non-approval.

If you have any questions, you may call Pupil Services at (865) 425- 9009.

Since the OR school enrollment continues to drop I suggest that the out of district tuition be reduced from almost $4K to $500. This should reverse the current trend and might even allow a few gifted athletes to consider joining us. Works for Alcoa…… What do you think??
