Music, rowing, politics, fundraisers this weekend

Activities this weekend include a Friday morning visit to Clinton by Gov. Bill Haslam, music (some of it free), nonprofit fundraisers, and a regatta at Oak Ridge Marina.

The Emory Valley Center of Oak Ridge is having a fundraiser that features music from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at Buddy’s Banquet Hall in Knoxville.

The second show of the free Secret City Sounds concert series, featuring Aftah Party, starts at 7 p.m. Friday in the pavilion at A.K. Bissell Park.

Sound Company, a children’s choir, performs at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Grove Theater in Oak Ridge.

The 2012 Conference USA Women’s Rowing Championship will be held Saturday, May 12, at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

May Ceilidh, a fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Family LIfe Center, will benefit Ulster Project of East Tennessee. It will include an Irish dinner, music, dancing, and a silent auction.

It’s also the last weekend to see Chicago at Oak Ridge Playhouse.
