CLINTON—Powell senior Conley Hamilton scored with less than six seconds remaining to give the Panthers a one-point win over Anderson County in a second-round elimination game of the District 3-AAA basketball tournament on Thursday.

Day one of the District 3-AAA basketball tournament at Anderson County is in the books, and both the Mavericks and Lady Mavs survived and advanced on Tuesday.

Senior Klarissa Roberts also reached double figures for AC, scoring 13 points. Clinton shot only 17 percent from the field as their season ended despite nine points and eight rebounds from Kelley Wandell in her final game in Orange and Black.

Next up for the Lady Mavs will be a 6 p.m. Thursday game with Halls, which easily dispatched Central 47-17. [Read more…]
