Joe Gaddis inducted into Tennessee Football Coaches Hall of Fame

Oak Ridge football coach Joe Gaddis was inducted into the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Saturday.

It was the association’s fifth Hall of Fame class, and it includes a total of seven members. Besides Gaddis, the other six Hall of Fame football members in this year’s class were Bobby Alston, Jim Heinz, Hershel Moore, Bob Polston, and Dave Rider.

The seventh member recognized by the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame was the contributor of the year. This year’s inductee was former Chattanooga Times Free Press sports writer and Chattanooga area television personality Stump Martin.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place on Saturday, December 1, at the Life Church in Cookeville. [Read more…]

Prudden, former girls basketball coach, to be inducted into TSSAA Hall of Fame

Jill Prudden, former girls basketball coach at Oak Ridge High School, will be inducted into the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in April.

Prudden was head girls basketball coach at Oak Ridge High School for 31 seasons. Her 908 wins rank third in the state. She led the team to three TSSAA state championships (1988, 1994, and 1997) and 21 TSSAA state tournament appearances.

Prudden retired from coaching in 2010 and is currently teaching at Robertsville Middle School.

Dave Fall of Oak Ridge was recently inducted as a member of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.

Fall is the broker, lead auctioneer, senior appraiser, and owner of Dave Fall Realty and Auction in Oak Ridge.

Fall, who served as vice president of the TAA, as well as the organization’s president in 2004-2005, is also a member of the National Auctioneers Association.

Auctioneer William “Bear” Stephenson, of Clinton, presented the Hall of Fame plaque to Fall during the state organization’s recent winter convention in Nashville, a press release said. [Read more…]

ORNL retiree Claud Pugh inducted into NC State Hall of Fame

Claud Pugh, a retired program manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, was scheduled to be inducted into North Carolina State University’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Hall of Fame on Nov. 1.

At ORNL, Pugh served as director of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission program office, was head of the Engineering Technology Division’s pressure vessel technology section, directed the NRC-sponsored heavy-section steel technology program, and held various research and project management positions in programs sponsored by the NRC and DOE.
