The Oak Ridge Wildcats will play the Campbell County Cougars in the District 3-AAA soccer tournament at home on Monday.
Oak Ridge is the number two seed in the tournament, while Campbell County is the number three seed. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 10. The winner will advance to the District 3-AAA championship game on Thursday.

The Clinton Dragons outlasted the Campbell County Cougars 61-56 in three overtimes Wednesday night to survive and advance in the District 3-AAA basketball tournament at Anderson County High School.
Dragon sophomore Daraon Jones scored a career-high 32 points, including seven in the third extra session, as Clinton secured a spot in the second round and set up a showdown with Karns at 7 p.m. Friday. A win will send the Dragons into a Saturday semifinal against Central at 6 p.m., and it will also secure them a spot in next week’s Region 2 tournament.
Elijah Phillips scored all 14 of his points in the second half to lead the Cougars, who led by as many as nine points in the second half before the Dragons closed the gap and ultimately sent the game into overtime. [Read more…]

On Friday night, the Campbell County Cougars spoiled Homecoming at Clinton High School by outlasting the Dragons 41-35 in overtime.
Josh Lay was impressive for the Cougars (3-2, 2-0 in Region 3-5A), rushing for 301 yards and three touchdowns—including the game-winner in OT—on 45 carries and throwing for three scores on 14-of-28 passing for 234 yards.
Tyler Thackerson went 25-of-38 passing for 293 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also rushing for two scores and 80 yards. [Read more…]
JACKSBORO—The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats and Wildcats made the long trip to Campbell County Tuesday night for their matchup against the Lady Cougars and Cougars. While the boys rolled to an easy 78-47 victory, the girls came up just short of beating the Lady Cougars, losing 47-46 in a nail-biter.
The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats (15-9, 10-3 District 3-AAA) were beaten last night by the Campbell County Lady Cougars 47-46 in a game that had the entire crowd on edge. The Oak Ridge crowd really seemed to be after the officials all night, as they made many questionable calls in the game.
“Those refs were brutal,†said one fan. “It seemed they were out to get us.â€
Controversial calls aside, the Lady Wildcats just couldn’t muster up enough at the end to come back for the victory. The loss marks the 16th time in the schools’ series history that Campbell County has been victorious over the Lady Wildcats. [Read more…]
