There have been changes to the basketball schedule because of some school closings in the region, and the Oak Ridge Wildcats and Lady Wildcats will play at home for the last time during the regular season tonight.
Here is the new schedule:
The girls’ games start at 6 p.m., and the boys’ games begin at 7:30 p.m.
Senior Night will be rescheduled and will not take place tonight (Tuesday, February 7).

The Oak Ridge and Campbell County girls’ basketball teams are both undefeated in District 3-AAA, and the two teams will play today.
One team will remain undefeated, and the other will pick up its first district loss of the season.
Oak Ridge, ranked number seven in the first Class AAA poll of 2017, is 14-2 overall and 6-0 in District 3-AAA.
Campbell County is 13-4 and 6-0 in District 3-AAA. [Read more…]

Jefferson Middle School and Robertsville Middle School will play their rescheduled basketball games on Monday.
The girls’ junior varsity game tips off at 4:45 p.m. Monday at Wildcat Arena at Oak Ridge High School. Varsity games will follow.
The games were postponed due to the weather on Saturday.

Snow was falling in Oak Ridge at noon Friday, and more was expected through Saturday morning. Schools and government offices have announced closures and early dismissals, and sporting events have been canceled.
Oak Ridge Schools said it has staff closely monitoring the weather and the roads. If a decision is made to dismiss early, a notification will be posted on Twitter and through Skylert.
The Oak Ridge-Halls basketball games scheduled for Friday night at Wildcat Arena have been canceled and rescheduled for Monday, January 23. [Read more…]

The Robertsville Middle School basketball games against Clinton tonight (Thursday, January 5) have been postponed.
New dates will be determined later.
The postponements were announced by The Rambler, the online newspaper of Robertsville Middle School.

KNOXVILLE—A tough defensive effort propelled the Jefferson Middle School boys basketball team to a fifth-place finish in the West Valley Christmas Tournament.
The Eagles (16-4) closed out the tournament with a 44-23 victory over Knoxville Christian on Friday at West Valley Middle School.
Jefferson had offensive struggles against the overmatched Knights, but that was nothing new for the Eagles, who are regulars at West Knox County holiday tournaments.
“It seemed like there was a lid on the basket today,†Jefferson Coach Jason Nussbaum said. “It’s been that way throughout the whole tournament. We’ve had trouble scoring all week.

The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department has started a 3-on-3 men’s basketball league for the winter 2017 program.
This new league is designed for recreationally spirited athletes seeking a fun and friendly environment where they can get some exercise while enjoying a fun and social basketball program, a press release said.

BRISTOL—Oak Ridge senior Tyshawn Young scored a game-high 29 points and senior Anthony Gibson added 17 as the Wildcats beat Science Hill in the first round of the Arby’s Classic in Bristol on Tuesday. Here are pictures from the game by Allen Greene of TriCitiesSports.com.
It was the second time Oak Ridge defeated the Hilltoppers this month. They also won 82-72 in the Champion Chevrolet Shootout at Science Hill in Johnson City on December 17.
The Wildcats will play again in the Arby’s Classic at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when they take on Trinity of Louisville, Kentucky, in a winners bracket game in the basketball tournament. [Read more…]

David Clary of Prepradio.com has sent us the radio schedule for the remaining Oak Ridge Wildcats and Lady Wildcats basketball games.
The remaining away games will be broadcast on FM 92.7 and FM 107.3. They will also be broadcast on Prepradio.com and Oak Ridge Schools Channel 15.

JOHNSON CITY—The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats opened up a wide lead in the second half to beat the Cleveland Lady Blue Raiders 69-35 in the Champion Chevrolet Shootout in Johnson City on Friday.
Oak Ridge (9-1, 5-0 District 3-AAA) was led by sophomore Jada Guinn with 21 points. Junior Desiree Bates had 14 points, and junior Jaymi Golden had eight.
The score was closer earlier in the game, with Oak Ridge ahead by two, 9-7, after the first quarter. The halftime score was 25-17. [Read more…]
