Anderson Chamber hosts small business seminar

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce Education/Workforce Development Council, in partnership with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, will host a free workshop for small business owners and entrepreneurs who want a better understanding of starting a new business. The TSBDC advises and assists entrepreneurs and small business owners in our area at no cost to them.

This free seminar will be held from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Friday at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce office at 245 N. Main St., Suite 200, in Clinton, with Jutta Bangs, senior business specialist with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center. The seminar discussion includes the forms of business organization, tax requirements, business licenses, business planning and financing options with additional discussion about SBA loan guarantee programs. Proton Therapy medical director featured at county chamber lunch

A radiation oncologist and medical director for the Provision Center for Proton Therapy will be the featured speaker at a quarterly networking luncheon for the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce next week.

The speaker will be Dr. Marcio Fagundes.

The chamber is having the luncheon in partnership with Junior Achievement of East Tennessee. It’s scheduled from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Hollingsworth Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, (Junior Achievement BizTown), at 2135 N. Charles Seivers Blvd. in Clinton. [Read more…]

Anderson County cash mob Friday at Clinch River Yarn

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will host its “Buy Local Cash Mob” on Friday at Clinch River Yarn Co. in Clinton.

Refreshments will be served, and there will be a 20 percent discount on everything in the shop, excluding looms, wheels, and equipment accessories. “Buy Local” Cards are available at the Chamber office and at the cash mob, which is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Clinch River Yarn Co. at 725 N. Charles Seivers Blvd. in Clinton.

A Monday morning legislative forum in Clinton will feature Sen. Randy McNally and representatives John Ragan and Dennis Powers. They will update constituents and answer questions about recent legislation, a press release said.

The forum is sponsored by the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, and it is open to the public. It is scheduled from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Clinton Community Center at 101 S. Hicks St. in Clinton.

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce recently presented a check for $750 to The Education Foundation for Clinton City and Anderson County Schools.

The donation represented a percentage of proceeds from the 2nd Annual Tribute to Business held on June 7.

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will pay tribute to local businesses at the “Dinner on the Lawn” event held at the majestic Brownworth Manor at 710 Eagle Bend Road in Clinton today.

The evening starts at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour on the patio, live music in the gazebo, and a fun silent auction. “Dinner on the Lawn” will be served at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Chamber’s “Tribute to Business” award ceremony. [Read more…]

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a Wednesday seminar on integrating tablets into businesses.

Led by Tracy Hibben, the seminar is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. at the Chamber office at 245 N. Main St. in Clinton.

A press release said two out of three small business owners plan to use tablets in their business in 2013. The question most have is: how?

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce has hired Diane Ilgner as retail development coordinator.

In a press release, the chamber said it created this position to promote retail growth and increase sales tax revenue for the county.

“As retail development coordinator, Diane will be responsible for retail retention and retail recruitment by gathering data, identifying areas appropriate for retail growth, and developing relationships with brokers, developers, retailers, and business owners,” the press release said.

UPF project director featured at Anderson County Chamber luncheon

John Eschenberg, federal project director for the Uranium Processing Facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex, will be the featured speaker at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce’s annual business luncheon this month.

Eschenberg will provide information on the UPF project and its impact on the East Tennessee economy and the nation’s nuclear security, a press release said. The UPF could cost between $4.2 and $6.5 billion.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Clinton.
