Albert Wade ‘Al’ Diehl

Albert Wade “Al” Diehl, age 75, passed away on Sunday, July 29, at Serene Manor Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was a charter member of the Dalewood United Methodist Church in Nashville. He served in the United States Coast Guard and completed a master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee. He taught science, television production, and electronics in the Oak Ridge Schools for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lewis, and infant daughter, Anita Sharon Lewis; brothers Doyle, Deloy, Carl, Frank, and Lonzie Lewis; and sisters Bonnie Williford, Lizzie Allen, Lola Porter, and Bertha Davis.

She was a member of Blowing Springs Baptist Church. Lela was active in WMU and a leader for Girl’s Auxiliary at Blowing Springs Baptist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

Samuel Matson Braden, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God on Friday, July 27, at his home.

Mr. Braden was born, April 13, 1926, on the Braden family farm, in Oliver Springs to the late R.H. Braden and Eliza M. Lockett Braden. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson County.
