The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the man who robbed the Farragut Pharmacy located at 11424 Kingston Pike on Thursday evening.

The reported robbery happened just after 6 p.m. when the suspect entered the store, jumped the counter, demanded pills, and stole money from the register, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was armed with a handgun and is believed to have fled on foot toward Kohl’s department store.

He is described as a white male, 6’2”-6’4”, with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hoodie, black pants,black tactical boots, and a black backpack at the time of the robbery. [Read more…]

Suspect arrested in shooting death of former Hardin Valley football player

The suspect in the fatal shooting of a former Hardin Valley football player in west Knox County on Saturday was arrested on Wednesday, authorities said.

Jack Bush, 19, turned himself in at the City-County Building just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said. He was charged with voluntary manslaughter and was released on a $10,000 bond.

The shooting occurred just after 1 a.m. Saturday, December 13. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said Bush came out of his home at 7777 Christen Lee Circle in west Knox County and confronted 19-year-old Evan Hall in the street. During the confrontation, Bush shot Hall, the Sheriff’s Office said. Hall was pronounced dead on the scene by Rural Metro.

Hall was a former Hardin Valley offensive lineman. He graduated in 2013.

Andy Allen, the 17-year-old Oak Ridge High School senior who had been missing since Saturday night, has been found safe after getting lost in the woods, authorities said Tuesday morning.

Allen told deputies that he was unable to find his way out of the woods, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said.

Allen had been missing since early Sunday morning after leaving his father’s home in west Knox County on foot. He was reunited with his parents on Tuesday morning.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said a witness saw Allen walk out of the woods on Hart Road in Knox County around 8 a.m. He then walked to the Weigel’s on Northshore Drive off Pellissippi Parkway.

“A second person identified him and called 911,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “When Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, he had been taken to a back room at the store. Rural Metro examined him and then he was sent home with his parents.”

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is helping to hunt for Andy Allen, a 17-year-old senior at Oak Ridge High School.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is helping in the hunt for a west Knox County teenager and Oak Ridge High School senior who has been missing since early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Andy Allen, 17, left his home at Westland and Northshore on foot around 1 a.m. Sunday, and he was last spotted in the Northshore/Pellissippi area around 3 a.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Airwatch is assisting in the search.

Allen is a white male, 5’9”, and 165 pounds, and he attends ORHS, where he is a senior.

Anyone with information is asked to call the KCSO at (865) 215-2243.

Volunteers are also helping in the search effort. Family friend Betsy Coleman and ORHS teacher Deni Sobek have coordinated that effort.

Friends and family are searching for a 17-year-old Oak Ridge High School student who hasn’t been seen since he left his father’s house in west Knox County on foot at midnight Saturday, a family friend said.

Searchers are meeting at 9:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Concord Park on Northshore Drive to hunt for Andy Allen, an ORHS senior, family friend Betsy Coleman said.

Allen is 5’9″ and has blue eyes, dark hair, and a shaved head, Coleman said.

Allen’s father, Kevin Allen, is an assistant district attorney general for Knox County who lives in the Northshore Drive and Westland Drive area, Coleman said.

She said the last ping from Andy’s cell phone came at about 3 a.m. between Northshore Elementary School and George Williams Road, near Concord Park. [Read more…]

Oak Ridge hit-and-run suspect crashes motorcycle in Knox County

An Oak Ridge hit-and-run suspect is in the hospital after crashing his motorcycle on East Emory Road in Knox County this morning, authorities said.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Oak Ridge Police Department to be on the lookout for hit-and-run suspect James F. Mitchell, 43, of Oak Ridge, on Friday morning, according to the initial investigation.

A KCSO officer saw Mitchell traveling eastbound on West Emory Road at 7:42 a.m. The officer got behind Mitchell and activated his emergency equipment, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said. Mitchell tried to negotiate a curve too fast and ran off the right side of the road into a ditch at 9638 East Emory Road at 7:43 a.m. He was thrown from the motorcycle, authorities said. Two plead guilty to money laundering…literally

Two men pleaded guilty this week to charges that they literally laundered money stolen in a Knox County bank robbery.

Danny Ray Idles, 36, of Clinton and Christopher Coward, 31, of Powell, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Anderson County Criminal Court to four counts each of money laundering and were sentenced to serve four 12-year jail sentences to run concurrently. [Read more…]

One Anderson man gets life, second 30 years in meth conspiracy

Two Anderson County men convicted of conspiring to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine were sentenced to lengthy prison terms this week, federal officials said Friday.

Officials estimate that the conspiracy resulted in the production of about 1,500 grams of methamphetamine.

Jeffrey Scott Braden, 37, of Vowell Mountain—the only one of 42 people indicted in the conspiracy to go to trial—received a mandatory life sentence on Thursday in a hearing before Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas A. Varlan in Knoxville, officials said.

Then, on Friday, Varlan sentenced conspiracy leader Lawrence “Stoney” Scriver, 46, of Lake City, to serve 30 years, U.S. Attorney William C. Killian said in a press release. [Read more…]

Bicyclist reports man yells obscenities before running over his bike in Solway

A 32-year-old man reported that a suspect leaving the Raceway gas station in Solway on Sunday afternoon first yelled obscenities toward him and then ran over his bicycle, authorities said.

The victim was examined by Rural Metro, but he said he was not injured in the incident, which occurred at 2:23 p.m. Sunday, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.

The suspect, who was reported to be driving a black Chevrolet Blazer, left before officers arrived.
