Realty Center hosts Peggy’s Irish Festival on June 1

Pat Kane

Award-winning musician Pat Kane will perform at Peggy's Irish Festival at the Realty Center on June 1.

Peggy and Tom Hanrahan of the Realty Center are having their 18th annual St. Patrick’s Day Party from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 1.

Pat Kane, the two-time winner of the New York City’s Fleadh Cheoil National Festival of Irish Music, will be joining them. He has written many songs and knows many modern selections as well.

Kane has performed at previous St. Patrick’s Day parties at the Realty Center.

A1A, 38 Special to play Secret City Festival

A1A, the original and official Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, and 38 Special will perform at the Secret City Festival in June.

A1A will perform Friday, June 15. Formed in 1991, A1A will play all of Jimmy Buffett’s hits along with classic reggae and beach party music.

Southern rockers 38 Special, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 16. 38 Special will perform hits from three decades of music with favorites such as “Hold on Loosely,” “Caught Up in You,” and “Rockin’ Into the Night.”

U.S. Air Force Band to perform Saturday

Secret City Sounds presents the return of the United States Air Force Band of Mid America on Saturday.

This year, they will perform with their ensemble, Starlifter. This seven-member group will play a variety of songs from rock, pop, and jazz to contemporary and traditional patriotic songs.

Emory Valley Center fundraiser features Boys’ Night Out on Friday

The Emory Valley Center of Oak Ridge is having a fundraiser from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday to raise money for a campaign to replace the current building on Emory Valley Road. The fundraiser will feature a barbeque dinner and performance by Boys’ Night Out at Buddy’s Banquet Hall in Knoxville.

Aftah Party performs in Oak Ridge on Friday night

Aftah Party will perform Friday in the second show of the Secret City Sounds concert series at A.K. Bissell Park. The show begins at 7 p.m.

This ten-piece band, formed by brothers Ken and Keith Brown and their longtime friend Melvin Ellis, will be playing a mixture of funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, and rock at the park’s pavilion.

Sound Company’s spring performance this weekend

Sound Company will perform its spring show at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12.

The show, “One World, One Voice“, will be at The Grove Theater at High Places Church. There will also be a school showing on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Ballroom dancing on Mondays in Oak Ridge

The Midtown Community Center hosts ballroom dancing every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Wildcat Den Room. Free lessons are available from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the dancing continues until 8:30 p.m. On live band nights, the music plays until 9:00 p.m.

Admission is $3 on regular Mondays and $6 on live band nights. There is a variety of music from big band to the ’70s, with a little “country” added to the mix.

One of nine local bands compete in Oak Ridge on Friday in Battle of the Teen Bands. Prizes included gift cards and recording studio time at Big Head Records studio at Heritage Fellowship Church.
