Evelyn White Jenkins

Evelyn White Jenkins, age 94, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, at NHC Health Care Center in Oak Ridge.

She was born June 10, 1918, in Wilson County, daughter of Joel Harris White and Myrtle Dillard White.

Mrs. Jenkins and her late husband, Conie F. Jenkins Sr., were longtime residents of Oak Ridge. They had been active members of Robertsville Baptist Church, and Mrs. Jenkins taught Sunday School classes for many years. After moving to Lebanon, she moved her church membership to Calvary Baptist Church. [Read more…]

Lois Harner, 80, took her journey with the angels on Dec. 27, at her home in Andersonville, surrounded by her family.

She fought her battle with cancer with gracefulness and dignity, in which she lived her entire life. A private service is planned for immediate family only.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio. She was in the finance business before she moved to Tennessee, and she co-owned and operated Sequoyah Marina in Andersonville for almost two decades. [Read more…]

Marscella “Marcy” Lynne Adams, age 56, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27.

Marcy was born Nov. 26, 1956, in Munich, Germany, to Jimmy and Beulah Adams.

She was a contract specialist for the Edison School of Knoxville.

John Michael Reagan, 60, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, in Oak Ridge, after a short illness.

He was born in Bethlehem, Pa., on May 27, 1952, the son of John Leo Reagan, deceased, and Justine Fox Reagan.

John graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1970. He played the alto saxophone in the high school band. He also played in several dance bands in the area. [Read more…]

He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Powers, and brother, Darrell Powers.

Shirley Rutherford Summers, born March 3, 1946, went to be with Jesus for Christmas on Monday, Dec. 24.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Ethel Rutherford, and siblings, Don and Frank Rutherford and Jean Bolton.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles Summers; children, Nathanael Summers and his wife Melissa, and Tabitha Cannon and her husband John; grandchildren, Christopher, Breanna, Jeremiah, Tessa, and Emily (Joel); great-grandchildren, Elijah and Grace; siblings, Betty Burke, Libby Russo, Jerry Rutherford, Mary Wallace, and Doris Wooten; and several nieces and nephews.

Faye Jean Hembree, age 79, a resident of Coalfield, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Dec. 24, at the home of her niece, Dawn Riley.

Ms. Hembree was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Coalfield. She lived in the Wheat Community of Roane County for nine years.

Faye was a faithful Christian lady who put God first in her life. She was a member of Big Mountain Baptist Church, Coalfield Senior Citizens, and the Coalfield Genealogy Society. [Read more…]

Ralph Byron Farrar, 88 of Oak Ridge, passed away Dec. 24.

He retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in 1990 after 37 years as an analytical chemist at the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Oak Ridge and the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Paducah, Ky.

Ralph was a graduate of Memphis State University with a master’s degree from Vanderbilt University. When on assignment to Paducah, he met Roberta Tucker at the Clements Street Church of Christ. They were married there on Dec. 28, 1956.

Betty Jo French Bray, 70, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, at home while surrounded by her family.

Betty was born June 2, 1942, in Knoxville. She was a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs.

Before her sickness, she was employed in the Catalog Department at JCPenney  in Oak Ridge, and she worked with her family, as a clerk, at French’s Market in Oliver Springs.

He loved farming and raising cattle.

Timothy J. Massey, age 49, a resident of Harriman, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mr. Massey was born in Ft. Myers, Fla., on the 12th day of July, 1963. He has lived in Harriman for the past 25 years.

Tim was employed at Coors-Tek as a machine operator for the past seven years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thurmond Massey, and by a brother, Wesley Rummans.
