A “Meet the Candidates” event next month will feature candidates for Oak Ridge City Council and Oak Ridge Board of Education.

The Oct. 9 event is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. in the A/B Room of the Oak Ridge Civic Center. It’s open to the public and sponsored by Democracy for East Tennessee.

There are five candidates for three city council seats and three candidates for two school board seats.

A press release said the Oct. 9 event will begin with a chance for each candidate to speak for five minutes. After the introductions, there will be time for everyone to talk, ask and answer questions, and get to know each other.

There will be a table for each candidate to display literature, campaign gear, and to request funds. Light refreshments will be provided.

For information, contact Tom Burns at (865) 482-5735 or Leslie Agron at (865) 332-2911.
