The final district tournament games were first postponed and then canceled, and the Oak Ridge Wildcats’ basketball teams will start the Class AAA regional tournament this week.
Update: These games have been postponed again as of Tuesday, February 24, due to weather. The latest is that the games will be played Wednesday.
The Lady Wildcats (19-11)Â play at Farragut (21-8) in the Region 2 quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Monday.
The Lady Wildcats are the number three seed from District 3, and Farragut is the number two seed from District 4. The games are played at the higher seed.
The Lady Wildcats were unable to play in the District 3 consolation game against Anderson County last week because of the weather.
Many other teams were also unable to finish their district tournament games because of the wintry weather. For example, the Oak Ridge Wildcats were unable to play the district championship game against Karns at Central. Oak Ridge, which was undefeated in the district and in Tennessee, beat Karns twice during the regular season.
The Wildcats (26-2) will now play at home against Lenoir City (17-13) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a Region 2 quarterfinal game.
Oak Ridge is the number one seed from District 3, and Lenoir City is the number four seed from District 4.
