The two youngest age groups and the oldest age group had the highest rates of increase in COVID-19 cases in Anderson County in July, and young adults had the most cases and the largest number of new cases.

The two youngest age groups and the oldest age group started the month with the lowest number of cases. But the 11-20 age group ended the month about in the middle of the nine age groups in terms of number of cases.

Cases among patients 0-10 years old grew from one on July 1 to 29 on July 31, according to data from the Tennessee Department of Health. That’s 29 times as many cases at the end of the month as the beginning, and an increase of 28 new cases during the month. It’s the highest rate of increase among all age groups, starting with the lowest number of cases.

Cases among patients 11-20 grew from six on July 1 to 74 on July 31. That’s 12.3 times as many cases at the end of the month as the beginning, and an increase of 68 new cases during the month. It’s the second-highest rate of increase and the third-highest number of new cases among all age groups.

Cases among patients 81 and older grew from three on July 1 to 31 on July 31. That’s 10.3 times as many cases at the end of the month as the beginning, and an increase of 28 new cases during the month. It was the third-highest rate of increase.

Three age groups—0-10, 71-80, and 81 and older—each had 28 new COVID-19 cases in July. That was the lowest number of new cases during the month among all age groups.

On Friday, the highest number of cases in Anderson County continued to be among patients who are 21-30 years old: 92. That age group has had the highest number of cases statewide as well.

That age group had the highest number of new cases in Anderson County in July as well: 76.

The 51-60 age group had the second-highest number of total cases (85) and second-highest number of new cases (69).

That group was followed by the 11-20 and 31-40 age groups, which each had 68 new cases, and the 41-50 age group, which had 63 new cases.

The 31-40 age group had 80 cases at the end of the month, the third-highest, and the 41-50 age group had 75, the fourth-highest.
