There will not be a Secret City Festival this year, organizers said Thursday.
In April, organizers had announced that the festival, which is normally in June, was postponed. But no new date was announced at that time.
On Thursday, the Secret City Festival board of directors said they have explored every option to have the festival in 2020, but “we have determined that we cannot provide the level of excellence this year that we wish to.”
All vendors and others have been reimbursed, organizers said.
“We hope to support other gatherings happening and hope you will join us in the excitement for 2021,” they said.
It’s one of four big Oak Ridge festivals that had been scheduled in June but that have been affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Of the other three, the Lavender Festival has been postponed to next year; the Flatwater Tales Storytelling Festival and writing workshops have been canceled, although there was a virtual storytelling festival in Apri; and the Nine Lakes Wine Festival has been postponed to September.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
