Anderson County eliminated the Lady Wildcats 42-22 in the second round of the District 3-AAA girls’ basketball tournament on Saturday at Powell.

The Lady Mavericks (16-11) will now play Halls (13-12) in a semifinal game at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Powell.

The Lady Wildcats (8-21) had advanced to the second round after eliminating Clinton 51-37 in a first-round game at Powell on Tuesday.

The winter weather last week postponed tournament games. Oak Ridge and Anderson County had originally been scheduled to play this past Thursday.

The Oak Ridge boys’ team (25-6) will also play Monday, taking on Powell (20-7) in a semifinal game at 9 p.m. at Powell. The Wildcats played the Panthers twice during the regular season, losing the first game 56-51 but winning the second 79-47.

Meanwhile, the Clinton Dragons’ boys’ team (10-17) eliminated the Anderson County Mavericks (8-19) 37-30 in a first-round tournament game on Friday. The Dragons then lost 55-68 to Powell in a second-round game on Saturday, and Powell advanced to the Monday semifinal match with Oak Ridge.
