The Oak Ridge City Clerk’s Office is accepting applications to fill vacancies on city boards and commissions for terms beginning Jan. 1.

To be considered, completed applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. Late applications or submissions will not be considered.

To make the process more convenient, an online application has been created and is available on the City Clerk’s departmental website or by visiting http://tiny.cc/12boardsapp. Paper applications are also available in the City Clerk’s Office in the Oak Ridge Municipal Building.

“Last year, the City Council had an outstanding selection of applicants to choose from, and we have high expectations again this year,” City Manager Mark Watson said. “Focusing our efforts on a single, end-of-the-year election provides an efficient recruiting process for our various board openings. I encourage residents who are seeking a fulfilling opportunity for community involvement to apply.”

The elections for the boards will take place at a special meeting of the Oak Ridge City Council on Monday, Dec. 17.

Interested applicants can view the 2012 City Council’s goals for the boards and commissions on the city’s website, which also has information about the purpose and composition of the various boards.

For more information, contact City Clerk Diana Stanley at (865) 425-3411 or by e-mail at dstanley@oakridgetn.gov.
