Reminder: The Secret City Festival is this weekend. The festival kicks off with an opening ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday, and it continues through Saturday evening.

The Secret City Festival celebrates family fun, great entertainment, and arts and crafts, and it commemorates the incredible history that makes this town unique, organizers said.

“Join us as we honor the men and women who built this community and helped end the greatest war mankind has ever known,” they said.

Secret City Festival outlines security procedures for concert attendees

Visitors to the Secret City Festival can expect tighter security measures and maybe a few delays when entering the concerts this year, all in the name of safety, organizers said.

No backpacks or coolers will be allowed into the concert site, and all bags will be subject to search, organizers said in a press release. This includes bags used to store chairs. Visitors should expect delays if carrying in anything that needs to be searched.

Organizers suggest festival attendees only bring their concert tickets, money for food, an ID to buy or consume beer, and a chair for the concerts. Once inside the concert site, festival seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The concert site opens at 5:30 p.m.

Steve Rutledge and the Groove Evolution will open for The Marshall Tucker Band at the Secret City Festival on Friday, June 12, and Legacy will open for Three Dog Night on Saturday, June 13.

Steve Rutledge and the Groove Evolution

Steve Rutledge is a guitar virtuoso/vocalist/producer originally from Frankfort, Kentucky, organizers said. He Moved to Nashville in 1997 to pursue a dream of playing music professionally and producing new artists. His music is a mix of rock, rhythm and blues, classic rock, and country.

Organizers said Rutledge has played worldwide and shared the stage and/or opened for artists such as Trace Adkins, Reba, Emerson Drive, and Toby Keith, to name a few. [Read more…]
