Tech 20/20 recently elected new officers and members to its board of directors.

David Bradshaw, president of CapitalMark Bank and Trust, is the 2013 board chair of the Board. Bradshaw succeeds Fred Tompkins, the director of Oak Ridge Operations for the University of Tennessee.

Tom Rogers, director of Industrial and Economic Development Partnerships at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, is the chair-elect for 2014.

The board also approved chairs for four standing committees:

  • Advanced Manufacturing chair: Teri Brahams
  • Entrepreneurship chair: Tom Ballard
  • Access to Capital chair: Mike Carroll
  • Financial Oversight chair: Lawrence Young

In addition, Rhonda Rice and Chris Mainini will serve as at large members of the executive committee. Stacy Patterson will serve as a representative of the University of Tennessee, and Pete Craven was named board member emeritus.

“We are fortunate to have a board of directors that is so actively engaged and who serve in top leadership positions throughout the community,” said John Morris, president and chief executive officer of Tech 20/20. “Their experience, expertise and insights will continue to help lead Tech 20/20. In particular, the 2013 Board has agreed to an increased level of involvement, including more meetings and a defined committee structure.”

Tech 20/20 was chartered as a nonprofit public benefit corporation in 1995 and has been engaged in educational and entrepreneurial activities to stimulate economic growth throughout Tennessee and the multi-state Appalachian corridor. Today, Tech 20/20’s focus is to create and accelerate the development of high-growth potential companies and jobs by capitalizing on the region’s unique technology resources.

The Oak Ridge Tech Commercialization Center houses several of Tech 20/20’s initiatives and programs designed to help move technology into the marketplace. These programs include the Centers for Entrepreneurial Growth, Tennessee Valley Tech Council, the Entrepreneurial Imperative Conference, and the ThrottleUp business pitch competition. The 17,000-square-foot facility also includes 4,000 square feet of incubator space for new and growing businesses.
