There is a slight chance of snow this morning and again this evening, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown.
The NWS says the chance of precipitation is 20 percent, and that could mean snow before 1 p.m., rain this afternoon, and snow and rain after 5 p.m.
There were very light snow flurries in Oak Ridge  at about 3:30 a.m. today (Friday).
Forecasters do not expect snow on Christmas. The forecast now calls for a 30 percent chance of showers on Christmas Day, with a high near 52.
Today’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, a high of 39 degrees, and breezy weather, with gusts as high as 30 mph, the Weather Service said.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny or mostly sunny.
The Weather Service said there is a chance of rain and snow again next week, starting Wednesday, the day after Christmas.
The Weather Service said a major winter storm continues to affect the eastern United States, bringing strong winds and heavy snow and rain. Heavy snow is expected in the Great Lakes region as well as the Appalachian Mountains tonight and tomorrow.
In the western United States, another storm is forecast to bring several feet of snow to the mountains of northern California through this weekend.
