City of Oak Ridge offices and facilities, Y-12 National Security Complex, and the Anderson County Courthouse will be closed Wednesday due to winter weather.
Only essential personnel are to report in the City of Oak Ridge. The Oak Ridge City Council work session scheduled for Tuesday night was canceled.
In Anderson County, crews have been working around the clock, but side roads are still in bad condition as are parking areas.
“The temperatures are expected to be very low tonight, and the main roads that are currently passable will most likely be ice in the early morning hours,” a press release said.
The closure also includes the Anderson County Health Department.
”Citizens are encouraged to stay off the roads and, due to cold temperatures, also take steps to conserve energy,” the press release said. “We will continue to monitor the situation for operations Thursday.”
The Y-12 site will be closed to all but essential personnel on Wednesday, the plant said.
The Uranium Processing Facility Project will be open for normal operations (including on site, K-31, 1060, and 1099), Y-12 said.
Essential Y-12 employees who are working in the protected area should park in the Central Portal lot and access the protected area from Post 8. Y-12 teleworkers should work remotely.
For UPF employees, parking on-site will only be at the east lots; lots 5 and 6 are closed. UPF employees who are unable to make it to work safely and are able to telework should do so. UPF workers may charge personal time for those who are unable to telework and/or report to their assigned location.
All employees who will be on-site should wear good footwear and stay on cleared pathways.
