The first East Tennessee Monologue Slam Fundraiser for Veterans and First Responders will be in Clinton on Saturday, November 12, and it will benefit the Infinite Warrior Foundation.

The Monologue Slam will feature a performance competition, and it will be at E. Claire’s Coffee House in Clinton in partnership with Actor’s Way In acting studio. It is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. November 12.

“Each performer is given three minutes to perform a monologue of their choice and then receive critiques from the judges,” a press release said. “After the first round of actors have gone up, three finalists are selected to move on to the second round.

“Here’s where things get interesting. In the second round, finalists are given plot twists that must be incorporated into their original piece. Some twists have included the actor now being drunk at their wedding or turning into a werewolf.

“At the conclusion of the second round, the audience now votes for the winner. The prizes include cash, scholarships to Actor’s Way In acting class, and ultimate bragging rights.”

The expert panel of judges will include talent agent Juanell Walker of Talent Trek Agency; producer, director, and actor Cylk Cozart; and actor and acting coach Russell Sams. They will provide feedback to the performers, the press release said.

“Whether you’re an actor performing in the showcase or part of the audience, this will be a valuable learning experience,” the press release said.

Besides being a competition and fundraiser for veterans and first responders, the Monologue Slam will also be a networking event for actors, the press release said.

Tickets are $10 at the door, cash only. Tickets and donations will go to Infinite Warrior Foundation, with a small amount going to the winners of the contest, the press release said.

“This is a special opportunity for communities to come together through art,” the press release said. “We are working hard to not only provide nonprofit organizations like Infinite Warrior Foundation much needed resources for all they serve, but to raise the bar when it comes to providing an outlet to engage artists and fans.”

E. Claire’s Coffee House is at 370 Market Street in Clinton.
