The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats, who are undefeated in District 3-AAA, won the regular season district championship 47-32 at Campbell County on Friday.

Down by five points at halftime, Oak Ridge (22-3, 16-0 District 3-AAA) rallied in the second half to defeat the Lady Cougars and will enter next week’s district tournament as the top seed.

The Lady Wildcats were led by freshman point guard Jada Guinn, who scored 17 points. Junior guard Courtney Ellison had 10, sophomore post Mykia Dowdell added nine, and senior forward Caelyn Thompson scored seven.

Campbell County (23-5, 14-2) only lost two district games this year and both were to Oak Ridge.

The Lady Cougars took an early lead Friday and led for much of the game, going into halftime with a five-point 18-13 lead.

But the Lady Wildcats held Campbell County to six points in the third quarter and tied the game at 2:23 in the third on a basket by Ellison.

Guinn gave Oak Ridge a two-point 26-24 lead after a steal by sophomore guard Jaymi Golden less than one minute later.

The Lady Wildcats had a 28-24 lead at the end of the third quarter and never trailed again. Oak Ridge outscored Campbell County 34-14 in the second half.

Freshman Skylar Boshears led the Lady Cougars with 12 points. Boshears started hot, shooting 5-of-7 in the first quarter, but was 1-of-9 after that. Junior Sarah Cain scored 11 for Campbell County.

The Friday night game was the last district game of the regular season for Oak Ridge and Campbell County.
