Jimmy Bouchard, a candidate for Anderson County Commission, has announced that John Iacovino will serve as his campaign treasurer.

Bouchard is running for County Commission in District 7, and he said Iacovino also lives in that district and is a well-respected Oak Ridger.

“I am very blessed and appreciative to have someone of John’s character and reputation join me in the role as my campaign treasurer,” Bouchard said in a press release. “John will be a tremendous asset to me, and I look forward to working with him during the next few months as I work to earn the support of my District 7 neighbors. John is someone I’ve known nearly my entire life, through St. Mary’s Church, where we both attend, as well as through business relationships built between John and my grandfather.”

The press release said Iacovino graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in nuclear and chemical engineering and later the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1961 with a degree in engineering management. He came to work in Oak Ridge as a process engineer for Union Carbide, where he assisted operation of the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, producing highly enriched uranium-235 for the Atomic Energy Commission. He was then promoted to chemical and nuclear design engineer for Union Carbide, leading design of molten salt reactor fuel reprocessing and more, the release said.

Iacovino owns I&I Industrial Sales, where he is a materials consultant and supplier of high performance corrosion, temperature and wear-resistant materials to solve the most difficult problems in the nuclear, hydro and fossil power, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and related industries, the release said.

“Having John join my efforts in my candidacy for election to the Anderson County Commission to represent District 7 speaks volume to the commitment and promise of hard work, honesty, integrity, and transparency I will bring to County Commission,” Bouchard said. “I thank John for supporting me and having a man of his caliber and reputation endorse me for Anderson County Commission District 7.
