Y-12 Federal Credit Union employee Dustin Brackins was recognized as Employee of the Year at a dinner on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Brackins was nominated in December 2013 for his selfless act of rescuing a woman trapped in her car, a press release said. Dustin was driving home with his family and noticed a car overturned on the roadside. He was able to help the woman to safety before her car caught fire.

“Dustin said he was thankful to be in the right place at the right time and expressed that anyone would have done the same thing,” the press release said.

Brackins has been employed at Y-12 Federal Credit Union for one year as a Mortgage Underwriter I. He attended Tusculum College and earned his master’s of business administration in December 2013. He has nine years of banking experience. He was formerly an assistant vice president community banking officer at Tennessee State Bank.

Eight other Y-12 FCU employees were also recognized at the dinner for going above and beyond to help members and co-workers in 2013, the press release said.

Y-12 Federal Credit Union is a federally-chartered, member-owned, locally managed, nonprofit financial institution. Y-12 FCU was founded in 1950 and now serves more than 75,000 members as a full-service financial institution with 14 branches in eight counties.
