Oak Ridge Christmas parade on Saturday

More than 100 businesses, clubs, and community organizations have registered for the Oak Ridge Christmas Parade on Saturday.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. Saturday at Corporate Center on the corner of Lafayette Drive and Laboratory Road. From there, it will travel down Lafayette to the Oak Ridge Turnpike. It will continue west on the Turnpike to Oak Ridge High School.

The judge’s stand will be located in front of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Past, Present and Future.”

Awards to be given this year are as follows:

  • Spectacular Sparkles Award—given to the entry that presents an outstanding display of lights and/or other type of illumination
  • Elfin Magic Award—given to the outstanding entry featuring children as the main part of the entry
  • Spirit Award—given to the entry that has the most enthusiasm during the parade
  • Director’s Award—given to the best marching/walking group
  • Chamber’s Award—given to the overall outstanding entry presenting and illustrating the parade theme, “Christmas Past, Present and Future”
  • Judge’s Award—given to an entry that has the best overall originality, creativity, appearance and uniqueness of decorations.
