Soccer: Undefeated in district, Wildcats play Karns in championship Wednesday

Undefeated in the district this season, the Oak Ridge Wildcats will play Karns in the championship game in the District 3-AAA tournament at home tonight.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Pro2Serve Soccer Complex at Oak Ridge High School.

Oak Ridge beat Powell 3-0 in a semifinal game on Monday to advance to the district championship. Nathan Kidder, Carson McGhee, and Jordan Snyder scored goals for Oak Ridge in that game. [Read more…]

KNOXVILLE—The Oak Ridge girls soccer team opened its regular season at Knoxville Catholic on Tuesday. Here are photos by Luther Simmons.

The girls will play their first home game of the regular season at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, August 17) at the Oak Ridge High School Pro2Serve Soccer Complex. It’s also the first district game.

The girls lost to Catholic 2-1 on Tuesday. That was a non-district game. [Read more…]

ORHS athletic director recognized for distinguished service by TSSAA

Mike Mullins

Mike Mullins, the athletic director at Oak Ridge High School, has been honored by the TSSAA for his distinguished service as an administrator.

The TSSAA, or Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association, administers junior and senior high school sports. A story in the Winter 2015 issue of TSSAA News said Mullins is finishing his ninth year as athletic director at ORHS and his 29th year in interscholastic athletics and education.
