Oak Ridge Elks Lodge donates storage building to Agape House of Oak Ridge

Members of the Oak Ridge Chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks recently donated a newly purchased 10′ by 12′ storage building to the Agape House of Oak Ridge.

The Agape House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides short term, temporary housing to the homeless in the community who are on a path to self-sufficiency, a press release said.

The storage building will provide safe storage solutions to families that are temporally homeless in order to keep some of their personal possessions until permanent housing is obtained. [Read more…]

Elks Lodge dance on Friday

The Oak Ridge Elks Lodge is inviting adults 21 and older to be their guests at a dance on Friday that features the Jay Storm Project. The dance will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Lodge located at 684 Emory Valley Road in Oak Ridge. There is no admission fee.

“Join friends for an evening of fun dancing to the sounds of the popular Knoxville based band, the Jay Storm Project,” a press release said.. “Described as a mix of as a mix of rhythm and blues, rock, funk, and soul, their music is the perfect combination to get any crowd moving on the dance floor.”

Guests must sign in at the door. No one under 21 will be admitted. A cash bar will be available.

Elks donate $1,500 to three local charities

The Oak Ridge Chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks has donated $1,500 to three local charities, a press release said.

On Thursday, Jan. 24, members of the Elks Lodge annual charity golf tournament committee met with the directors of the Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge, and the Emory Valley Center, along with volunteer staff members at the Holiday Bureau, in order to present each of them with a $500 check, the release said.
