Kinga Unocic, researcher at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has received the 2017 Young Leaders International Scholar Award from The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society.

Unocic is a materials scientist in the Microscopy and Corrosion Science and Technology group, and she has contributed to the ORNL Bioenergy Technologies Program. Her current research uses transmission electron microscopy methods to study the performance and reliability of materials under extreme conditions, investigate the structure of materials processed by additive manufacturing, and accelerate catalyst synthesis and development for bioenergy technology, a press release said.
