The Shine Effect

 

Kern United Methodist Church presents Christian rock band The Shine Effect in concert on Sunday.

The concert starts at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 20, during [email protected] It’s a free all-ages concert.

Organizers said child care will be provided for kids under age 4. Light snacks will be provided.

Kern Church has Pancake Breakfast, Plant and Rummage Sale on Saturday

The Kern United Methodist Men’s group, assisted by Kern Youth, will host their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 11, in the church Family Life Center. Pancakes with sausage, juice, and coffee will be served from 8 a.m. until noon for the cost of $5 for adults, $3 for children 3-12 years, and under 3 free.

The Men’s Group will also take orders for carpenter bee traps and beautiful handcrafted desk pen holders made from Tennessee red cedar donated and harvested by Kern members. Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast finance the valuable work the Men’s Group does around the church.

In conjunction with the breakfast, a Plant and Rummage Sale will be held. [Read more…]

Kern United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge is offering an exciting, new Sunday evening service beginning on Sunday, November 2, a press release said.

While the waiting room often gets crowed at the Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge (FMCOR), it was packed to capacity on a recent Sunday afternoon. People huddled together not to see a doctor, but to surprise the person whose efforts led to the clinic’s opening nearly four and a half years ago.

John and Mary Lou Auxier arrived at the clinic with John’s sister for a pre-arranged tour by Executive Director Teresa Brittain. Instead, John was surprised by more than 60 friends, colleagues, and clinic volunteers who gathered for a reception to honor him for turning his dream into a reality, a free clinic that provides basic medical care to the uninsured or to those who can’t afford to pay for medical care. Since opening, more than 3,500 residents of people who reside in Anderson, Roane, or Morgan counties have received care in more than 15,000 visits. [Read more…]

The Kern United Methodist men’s group will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 12, in the church’s Family Life Center. Pancakes with sausage, juice, and coffee will be served from 8 a.m. until noon for the cost of $5 for adults, $3 for children 3-12 years, and free for children under 3. Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will benefit the Men’s Club to help finance their valuable work around the church.

In conjunction with the breakfast, a plant and rummage sale will be held. Church members are contributing plants from their home gardens, and plants from Kern’s flower garden will be divided and sold. Lori McAlister, the owner of Tennessee Naturescapes, is also donating some native and prairie woodland wildflower plants. The rummage sale will feature all kinds of large and small miscellaneous items such as toys, kitchen and household items, flower pots, bird houses, books, gardening tools, sporting equipment, and games, among other things, a press release said.
