Doris Ruth Catherine Snow Noey, age 92, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Monday, April 15, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

The daughter of James M. and Elizabeth Doyle Snow, she was born on Jan. 22, 1921, in Au Sable Forks, N.Y. Graduating from high school in Au Sable Forks in 1939, she moved to Schenectady, N.Y., where she worked for General Electric and met John Lynn Noey in 1942.

After his service in the United States Army during World War II, the couple married in 1946. Lynn Noey completed his degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University in 1949.

In 1951, Doris and Lynn Noey moved with their growing family to Oak Ridge, where he worked for Union Carbide Corporation at the Y-12 Plant. He retired from Martin-Marietta Energy Systems in 1986.

Doris and Lynn Noey raised their four children in Oak Ridge. She enjoyed an active social life, and she was an avid sports fan, enthusiastically supporting Oak Ridge High School, the Lady Vols, and her grandchildren’s sporting events. Always athletic, she played basketball for her high school team, she was an avid golfer at the Oak Ridge Golf and Country Club, and in her later years, she enjoyed exercising with her friends at Body Recall.
