Grammy-winning guitarist plays with Oak Ridge Symphony on Saturday

Grammy-winning guitar virtuoso Jason Vieaux will play in Oak Ridge on Saturday.

He will play Antonio Vivaldi’s “Guitar Concerto in D major,” Malcolm Arnold’s “Serenade for Guitar and Strings,” and the “Allegro Maestoso” from Mauro Giuliani’s “Concerto in A,” a press release said.

Vieaux will perform with the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra at the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge. The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

The concert, conducted by Music Director Dan Allcott, will also feature J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 1” and Frederick Delius’ “Air and Dance.” [Read more…]

Clinton Library has classical guitar concert Monday

Join the Friends of the Clinton Public Library as they host Jeff Bianchi to perform an hour-long classical guitar concert at 6 p.m. Monday.

The date is part of Bianchi’s fall performance schedule, which includes concerts in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio.

Bianchi’s skill has earned him performances at the Rantucci International Guitar Festival, the Ithaca Guitar Festival, and a special concert in conjunction with the National Old Time Fiddlers’ Competition, a press release said. [Read more…]

The Knoxville Guitar Ensemble will present a free program of classical guitar music at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the New Hope Center.

Ensemble members David Hickman, Tyler Jordan, John Wade, Travis Halloway, and Andy LeGrand will play music from Spain, South America, and original compositions.

The New Hope Center is at the front entrance at the Y-12 National Security Complex at 602 Scarboro Road in Oak Ridge. [Read more…]
