An Oak Ridge police officer driving a police car and two occupants of a second car were taken to the hospital after a Sunday afternoon crash at South Illinois and Rutgers avenues.

 

An Oak Ridge police officer driving a police car and two occupants of a second car were taken to the hospital after a Sunday afternoon crash at South Illinois and Rutgers avenues.

The two-car crash occurred at about 2:12 p.m. Sunday, the Oak Ridge Police Department said in a statement.

The officer, the only occupant of the police vehicle, was taken by ambulance to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, ORPD Capt. Charles R. Smith said in the statement. [Read more…]

Renovations at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter on Belgrade Road start today and could take two weeks to complete.

Building renovations at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter start today and could take two weeks to complete.

In a statement Friday, Oak Ridge Police Department Lt. Charles R. Smith said the remodeling includes an examination room and clinic, as well as upgrading the lobby area.

While the building is being renovated, the animal shelter, located on Belgrade Road, will be open for business Tuesday through Saturday from 2–6 p.m. Visitors and volunteers will be able to enter the shelter through the kennel entrance, the statement said.
