Centennial Golf professional named PGA teacher, coach of year

Des Mahoney, the teaching professional at Centennial Golf Academy at the Centennial Golf Club in Oak Ridge, was awarded the 2022 PGA Teacher and Coach of the Year by the Knoxville Chapter of the Professional Golfers Association at their event on Monday, December 12.

This is not Mahoney’s first recognition, a press release said. He has achieved Top 10 PGA Teacher in Tennessee multiple times.

Mahoney said he has a passion for continually improving his teaching skills by talking to other golf instructors in the country to share and implement some of the newest insights in golf instruction. [Read more…]

Atomic City Sportsmen Club has golf tournament Saturday

The Atomic City Sportsmen Club has its 16th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday.

The tournament is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Centennial Golf Club at 101 Centennial Boulevard in Oak Ridge.

It’s a best ball-shotgun start, an event flyer said. The entry fee is $75 per person. It’s $90 the day of the event.

The tournament includes lunch, range balls, a goodie bag, and door prizes, the flyer said.

The Atomic City Sportsmen Club has its 15th Annual Golf Tournament on June 18 in Oak Ridge.

The golf tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. June 18 at Centennial Golf Club at 101 Centennial Boulevard.

The entry fee is $75 per person and $90 on the day of the event (strictly enforced).

There is lunch, range balls, a goodie bag, and door prizes.
