Lake City man dies, wife injured after Saturday motorcycle crash

A Lake City motorcyclist died and his wife was injured after a Saturday morning collision with a sports utility vehicle on Lake City Highway, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 10:45 a.m. Saturday on Lake City Highway, also known as US 25W, at Old Lake City Highway between Clinton and Lake City. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Department said William Ferrell, 71, of Old Lake City Highway in Clinton, was driving a Mercury Mountaineer SUV and turned into the path of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Gregory McNelley, 53, of Longfield Road in Lake City. His wife, Julie McNelley, 49, was a passenger on the motorcycle. [Read more…]

Anderson EMS honors paramedic, EMT, officer of the year; gives first ‘Director’s Award’

Anderson County Emergency Medical Service, or EMS, honored some of its own Wednesday afternoon with a luncheon and awards ceremony.

Anderson County EMS plans operational changes

Anderson County EMS has announced a change in their system’s operations that will start June 3.

Anderson County EMS currently operates 11 ambulances during the day Monday through Friday, six of which are Advanced Life Support (ALS), Paramedic-staffed ambulances, and five are designated as Basic Life Support (BLS) convalescent trucks with dual EMT-IV crews. [Read more…]

Anderson County EMS hosts luncheon today

May 19-25 is National EMS Week and Anderson County EMS and UT LIFESTAR will host an appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, May 22, to honor Anderson County’s EMS crews and First Responders for the work they do. The luncheon starts at 11 a.m., and this event is open to everyone.

There will be a short presentation to honor the EMT-IV, Paramedic, and Officer of the Year, as well as others. [Read more…]

When you’re having a health emergency like a heart attack, every minute matters. Methodist Medical Center and the Anderson County Emergency Medical Services work together to make sure patients get the treatment they need as quickly as possible.

Methodist’s emergency heart team includes interventional cardiologists, emergency room doctors, nurses, technicians, and EMS personnel. Each one is trained and ready 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It’s their mission to open blocked arteries—as quickly as possible—and they do it 25 minutes faster than the national benchmark.
