Democratic Party honors volunteers Monday

The Anderson County Democratic Party will honor and thank volunteers who worked in the campaigns of all Democratic candidates in 2012 elections with a free dinner and party at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Clinton Community Center.

Volunteers throughout the county worked in campaigns ranging from President Obama’s re-election campaign to the campaigns of state and local candidates in 2012.

Anderson County Democrats have a “better-than-average” chance of taking back the county mayor and state House seats in the August and November elections, a party official said Monday.

In particular, Democrats believe they can beat first-term legislator John Ragan, an Oak Ridge Republican, said Richard Dawson, Tennessee Democratic Party executive committee member in Senate District 5.

Anderson County Democrats open headquarters Thursday

The Anderson County Democratic Party officially opens its campaign headquarters from 5:30-7 p.m Thursday. The party will celebrate the opening with hot dogs, chips, and iced beverages, and the public is invited, a press release said.

Seating is limited, so bringing a chair is recommended, the release said.
