Alternative Program at ORHS renamed Secret City Academy

Oak Ridge Alternative Program

The Alternative Program is housed in the G Building at Oak Ridge High School.

 

The Oak Ridge Alternative Program has been renamed the Secret City Academy.

The Oak Ridge Board of Education unanimously approved the name change in a voice vote during its June meeting. Staff and students had previously weighed in on the name change.

Alternative Program administrator named principal at Willow Brook

The administrator of the Alternative Program at Oak Ridge Schools has been named principal of Willow Brook Elementary School, officials said Wednesday.

Sherrie Fairchild-Keyes will become Willow Brook principal effective July 1. The appointment was announced Wednesday morning by Oak Ridge Schools Superintendent Bruce Borchers. Fairchild-Keyes was selected by an interview team made up of Willow Brook teachers and parents and Assistant Superintendent Chris Marczak, a press release said.

Fairchild-Keyes will replace the outgoing principal, Lisa Light, who took a position with Knox County Schools as the principal of Gap Creek Elementary. [Read more…]

Vice principal appointed at Robertsville Middle School

Garfield Adams has been appointed vice principal at Robertsville Middle School, a school official said Tuesday.

Adams’ appointment is effective July 1, Oak Ridge Schools Assistant Superintendent Chris Marczak said in a press release.

Adams began his career as a special education teacher in Knox County Schools in 2001. He joined the Oak Ridge Schools in 2004 as an alternative program teacher and remained in that capacity until 2011. [Read more…]
