David Lester Murray, age 48, a resident of the Elverton Community in Roane County, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman.
Mr. Murray was born Sept. 15, 1964, in Oak Ridge. He was a lifelong resident of Roane County.

Dr. John H. Neiler (Major General Retired), age 89, of Oak Ridge died Sunday, Sept. 16, at his home.
He was born December 21, 1922, in Mt. Oliver, Pa., the son of Clarence and Florence Kintz Neiler.
Dr. Neiler received his bachelor’s degree in physics and electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

Sue Hammons Adkins was born Aug. 16, 1933, in a log cabin in the Dyllis Community of Roane County.
She grew up playing on a fast pitch softball team, whose record was 300-0 when she left. She played basketball on a championship team at Oliver Springs High School with teammates, Barbara Lockette, Dorothy Hall, and Myrtle Chapman, to name only a few. They have all remained friends to this day.

Cleve Daugherty, 75, a resident of Coalfield, died Saturday, Sept. 15, at his home.
Mr. Daugherty was born Jan. 6, 1937, in New River. He had lived in Coalfield since 1953.
Cleve was employed as a coal miner and logger before his retirement. He was a member of the United Church of Compassion in Oliver Springs.

Paul Edward Carter, 73, of Knoxville, died Thursday, Sept. 13, at Tennova North Medical Center in Powell.
He was born January 24, 1939 in Harlan, Ky., the son of Wymer and Maymie Reynolds Carter.
Mr. Carter was a 1957 graduate of Oak Ridge High School.He served with the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961.

Jane Haywood Higgins, age 89, formerly of Oak Ridge passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville.
Jane was born in Cornersville, Tenn., on July 13, 1923, to the late Shelby Marsh and Margaret Burgess Haywood.

Wilbur Joseph Hitchcock, 89, of Oak Ridge, passed away, Friday, Sept. 7, at the Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. Hitchcock led a long challenging, adventurous life and never met a stranger. He is a product of the South’s Golden Age of lumbering.

Frances Lively Lane, age 95, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 8, at her home.
Mrs. Lane was born March 4, 1917, in the Frost Bottom Community of Anderson County. She continued living in Frost Bottom until her move to Roane County in 1948.

Jimmie C. “Jim” Putman, age 76, a resident of Oliver Springs, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 7.
Mr. Putman was born on June 11, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas. Later in life, he moved to Houston, where he lived for 40 years. He then moved to Oliver Springs in 2005.

Lori Jane Keller, age 53, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, at Parkwest Medical Center.
She was a member of Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Lori was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and the University of Tennessee.
