Samuel Maston Braden
Samuel Matson Braden, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God on Friday, July 27, at his home.
Mr. Braden was born, April 13, 1926, on the Braden family farm, in Oliver Springs to the late R.H. Braden and Eliza M. Lockett Braden. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson County.
Angelyn Chastain better known as “Angie,” age 55, of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, at Methodist Medical Center.
Angie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved helping others and being surrounded by family and friends. Angie also enjoyed reading, crocheting, and growing flowers and plants.
Joan Eadie Quist
Joan Eadie Quist, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, at her home in Oak Ridge, attended by her husband, son, daughter, and long-time caregiver, after a lengthy struggle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Joan was born on July 2, 1943, in Boston, Mass.
Sheree Diana Lamb Warner
Sheree Diana Lamb Warner, age 56, of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness on Thursday, July 26, at her home.
She was born July 25, 1956, in Oak Ridge, the daughter of Calvin Edward and Naida Donner Lamb.
Willard Albert McFarland
Willard A. McFarland was a “Big Man” in my eyes, although small in his own.
On July 25, he went home peacefully to be with the Lord after 93 blessed years of life.
He was a man of strong principles and a loving heart, a man committed to his wife, family, friends, and the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a hard worker and led a simple and joyful life. He was a Great Grand-Dad!
Forrest Neil Case
Forrest Neil Case, age 93, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, July 24, in Knoxville.
He was born June 11, 1919 in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of William E. and Mary Au Case.

Three dozen high school students and 14 teachers from 12 Appalachian states spent two weeks in East Tennessee this month for a math, science, and technology camp.
The camp was hosted by two local organizations, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Oak Ridge Associated Universities, as well as the Appalachian Regional Commission.
The students and teachers were able to work with mentors at ORNL during the hands-on camp, the 23rd annual High School Summer and Math-Science-Technology Institute. They also participated in East Tennessee tours and activities.
The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society will host a free butterfly and insect program at 10 a.m. August 11 at the UT Arboretum.
Naturalist Kris Light will present the program, which is open to the public.
Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville is offering a special rate to spay or neuter pit bulls during the month of August.
The “Primp Your Pit (Bull)” spay/neuter program will only cost $20 for all pit bull owners, regardless of residency or income requirements, the release said.
Marion Janelle Hughes
Marion Hughes passed away Tuesday, July 24, at Golden Living-Windwood in Clinton after an extended illness.
Born November 11, 1917, in Shelbyville, she was the last surviving child of the late Arch and Minnie Halmontaler.
Musicians compete at a Battle of the Teen Bands in April.
A Teen Battle of the Bands will be held at the A.K. Bissell Park Pavilion at 6 p.m. Saturday.
If it rains, the battle will be moved to The Grove Theater.
The Boys Club Alumni Association will be working Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to update the press box and concession stand for the club’s upcoming football season.
The Alumni is working to revitalize the program and has partnered with Greg Palmer from Tennessee Tool and Engineering to purchase all new helmets and uniforms, according to an e-mail from Alumni President Aaron Wells.
