On Monday, December 11, thirteen restaurant locations throughout Anderson County will donate a portion of their sales to support Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC). The event, Dine & Donate, happens on the second Monday of each month.
Monday, December 11, is an opportunity to sample fresh subs from Subway’s five locations in Anderson County, a press release said. The restaurant is featuring Reuben’s at this time, either corned beef or turkey, the release said.
“It’s all fresh at Subway,” the press release said. “Rolls for subs are baked fresh each day, as are the cookies. In addition, the vegetables are washed and freshly sliced every morning.”
Some of the most requested subs at Subway include the club and the BMT. Local Subway manager Dona Rector said the BMT originally stood for Boston Mass Transit. “That’s because it was named after the first store in the country,†she said. “Now it stands for Big Meaty Tasty.â€
Subways also serve breakfast sandwiches, fountain and bottled colas, and soups each day. The restaurant also caters to area businesses.
Participating restaurants on Monday, December 11, include:
- Burchfields in Oak Ridge;
- Dean’s in Oak Ridge;
- Gallo Loco in Oak Ridge;
- Hoskins in Clinton;
- Mediterranean Delight in Oak Ridge;
- Outback Steakhouse in Oak Ridge;
- Razzleberry’s in Oak Ridge;
- Soup Kitchen in Oak Ridge; and
- Subway locations in Clinton (two), Oak Ridge, Oliver Springs, and Rocky Top.
More than 20 local restaurants locations have participated in Dine & Donate throughout 2017. The event is sponsored by Leidos, UT-Battelle, TNBank, Randy McFarland—State Farm Agent, and J&M Butcher shop, with media support provided by Oak Ridge Today.
Proceeds from Dine & Donate support ADFAC’s work to help the less fortunate in the community with services including short-term utility assistance, school supplies for K-12 students, home repairs for elderly homeowners, and much more. ADFAC answers more than 6,000 requests for assistance each year.
