Anderson County junior quarterback Stanton Martin is a semifinalist for the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards.

The awards will be presented to the top football players in nine classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association on Monday, November 27, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Martin led the Anderson County Mavericks to their first undefeated regular season (10-0). In the first 10 games, he had 158 completions on 242 attempts (65.9 percent), with nine interceptions, 2,770 yards, and 41 touchdowns, according to information posted on Twitter by Anderson County High School Athletic Director Gary Terry (see the image above). That’s an average of 277 yards per game passing.

Martin had 50 rushing attempts for 588 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season.

He has a 4.3 grade point average and scored a 27 on the ACT.

Since their undefeated regular season, the Mavericks defeated Grainger 65-40 in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs on Friday, November 3. They will play Elizabethton in round two at 7 p.m. Friday, November 10.

Martin is a semifinalist in Division I, Class 4A. The other four semifinalists in that division and class are Cade Ballard of Greeneville, Kamron Hightower-Liggett of Marshall County, Michael Jamahl McGhee of Chattanooga Central, and Dontae Smith of Spring Hill.

Three finalists for each category will be announced by Mike Keith on the Titans website at www.titansonline.com at 12 p.m. Central time (1 p.m. Eastern) on Monday, November 13. The three finalists for each award will be the ones invited to attend the awards luncheon at Nissan Stadium, where the winner of each award will be announced.

For the 16th consecutive year, the top kicker in the state will be recognized with a Mr. Football Award, regardless of classification.

Five semifinalists are announced in this release for each classification and the Kicker of the Year category. There are six classifications in Division I and three in Division II.

A committee of statewide sports writers selected winners based on performance in the 2017 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration. High school head coaches and members of the media nominated the finalists.

Parker McKinney of Coalfield is a semifinalist in Division I, Class 1A.

In Oak Ridge’s class, Cade Mays of Knoxville Catholic is a semifinalist in Division I, Class 5A. So is Ty Boeck of Soddy Daisy, which Oak Ridge will play in a first-round playoff game on Blankenship Field at 7 p.m. today (Friday, November 3).

Mays won the Class 4A Lineman Mr. Football Award in 2016. (Oak Ridge’s Tee Higgins, who was a senior last year, also won a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football award. It was the second year in a row that Higgins won the award.)

In Division I, Class 6A this year, Dylan Hopkins of Maryville is a semifinalist, and Morgan Ernst of Webb School of Knoxville is a semifinalist in Division II, Class AA.

Mike Keith, play-by-play voice of the Tennessee Titans, will emcee the awards presentation. A live videostream of the awards will be provided at TitansOnline.com, the TSSAA said.
