A police search of a home on Marion Road on Friday found pills, methamphetamine, marijuana, cash, and ammunition, authorities said.
The home at 102 Marion Road was searched by the 7th Judicial District Crime Task Force and Oak Ridge Police Department SWAT team on Friday, September 8, according to affidavits filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court in Oak Ridge.
During a search of the home, officers, who had a search warrant, found two bags containing about 34.7 grams of methamphetamine, about one pound of marijuana in various bags, and a bag of pills that included five alprazolam, five methylphenidate hydrochloride, and 19 two-milligram Xanax pills, the affidavits said.
Police also found cash, drug paraphernalia, a sealed bag of marijuana, .380 ammunition, and a Mercedes C20 car reportedly purchased with money from drug sales, according to the affidavits.
The man arrested in the case, Samuel Wade, 34, has been charged with four counts of manufacturing, delivering, or selling drugs; a controlled substance violation; maintaining a dwelling for manufacturing, delivering, or selling narcotics; and a drug paraphernalia violation.
The affidavits were filed by Crime Task Force Agent Dan Freytag, who is also an Oak Ridge Police Department officer.
Wade owns the Marion Road home, Freytag said. Wade was advised of his Miranda rights both verbally and in written form, and he agreed to talk without a lawyer present, Freytag said in the affidavits.
Wade said he knew why police were at his home, and it was because “he was selling dope,” according to the affidavits.
“Wade stated that he would tell us where everything was in the residence and that everything was in his bedroom,” the affidavits said. “Wade stated that there was a little less than a pound of marijuana in his room and that there was also about an ounce of ‘ice’ in his room. Wade further stated that there were some pills in the room as well.”
Wade said he had used the money from his drug sales to buy the 2006 Mercedes C20 parked in front of his house, and that had left him broke, according to the affidavits. Wade told police that he had rapidly gone through about $200,000 in a trust fund from his mother and grandparents because he had been a heavy drug user when he received it, the affidavits said.
Wade said he only had about $200 remaining in a bank account, and he had quit a job a while ago and was currently unemployed. the affidavits said.
During their search of the home, agents said they needed to search the attic. When an agent went to open the attic access, Wade said there was a “bag of weed” up there, and he thought he could “slide by with it” and possibly smoke some of that after agents left, Freytag said in the affidavits.
Wade was arrested at about 7 a.m. Friday, and he remained jailed Tuesday morning at the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton, according to court and jail records. His bond has been set at $100,000.
Wade has a court date scheduled for 1 p.m. September 19 in Anderson County General Sessions Court in Oak Ridge.
Marion Road is off Michigan Avenue in north Oak Ridge.
