To the Editor:
I am writing in support of my friend Joe Lee’s candidacy for Oak Ridge City Council in the coming election.
Born and raised in Oak Ridge, Joe’s knowledge and optimism regarding the city and its future are unmatched.
For almost a decade, he has served as a citizen on the city’s Board of Building and Housing Code of Appeals. His ability to get things done is evidenced in his leadership in bringing attention and appropriate action to the problems of blighted, abandoned, or neglected properties.
Joe has been a frequent attendee at City Council meetings for 10 years, and he is very familiar with the way the Council works (or sometimes doesn’t work). He is totally familiar with important issues that are being studied or proposed.
Joe works, as he has in his whole career, in the construction industry. In recent years, his job as superintendent has been at the University of Tennessee, including the renovation and expansion of Neyland Stadium and the construction of the Howard Baker Center for Public Policy. He continues in that position in the ongoing construction of the University Center. Buildings included in his work history are the expansion of Methodist Medical Center, the new branch library in Powell, and the new Community Center in Johnson City.
Joe Lee is highly qualified to serve as a member of City Council. He is intelligent, energetic, and decisive. He will bring focus to present and future issues concerning the city he loves. I encourage Oak Ridgers to vote for him on November 8 or to vote early October 19 to November 3.
